Pothos plant is the most common plant kept in houses all over the world. The reason of this is that it is very easy to maintain. These are three different types of the Pothos plant. In the first type of the plant the leaves are green evenly. On the golden Pothos plant there are yellow patches on the leaves. And on the leaves of the marble queen Pothos plant there are white patches on them. These plants are climbers’ types and they are able to run to the length of the surrounding where they are planted. Because of this feature, more precisely these are a decorative plant used all over the world. Leaves of these plants have a waxy look and that is why they are water resistant.

Here are some tips for the care of these plants. It has already been stated that these plants are not too demanding. This plant don’t need direct sunlight and that is why natural indirect sunlight. If this Pothos plant is kept in direct sunlight it can lose color of the leaves and it gets pale in color. Moving ahead to the next level is that of water. The need of water depends on different conditions like the level of the moisture and quality of the soil. It is advised that filtered and distilled water is used to water the plant. The water used must reach to the roots of the plant. Moving ahead to the temperature requirement there is need of temperature that ranges from 65-85*f. It depends on the nature of the weather that is why in different weather conditions it needs different types of care (exposure to the sun or indirect sunlight). If these cares are taken the Pothos plants don’t need any special care to grow properly. One thing worth mentioning is that when there is excess quantity of water as the roots of the plant can rot.

It is the most common indoor plant throughout the world. Its botanical name is Epipremnun aureum or Scindapsus aureus. Its common name is pothos also called variegated philodendron or devil’s ivy. This plant is very easy to maintain and can be grown on a variety of soil and can tolerate a wide range of environmental conditions. This is why it is top ranking house plant. There is no need of direct sunlight as it can be grown in your living room as well. It is native to tropical regions of Southeast Asia, specifically Malaysia. It is a low growing vine that can grow around 10 to 20 feet long. For good growth care is important there are many biotic and a biotic factors which effect the growth and health of plants.

These are light, temperature, humidity, water, fertilizers and pests. Natural but bright indirect light would be preferred direct sun would be avoided as it faded the leaves color. Suitable temperature rang is 65 to 85 degrees (Fahrenheit). Grow well in humid conditions. Application of water is very crucial if it receives too little water; the leaves will wilt, become weak and turned bright yellow. In excess of moisture the roots will rot which cause the leaves to wilt because there is no uptake water from the soil. Over watering turned the leaves dull, pale color. Pure water is suitable for good growth and applied when upper 1 inch of soil dried. Liquid fertilizers applied if needed. Pests like mites spiders, mealy bug attack the plant. Pesticides or soups should b applied to avoid pests. It is propagated vegetative through tip cuttings. Pothos is an important plant for maintenance of healthy indoor environment. It is the most effective specie in ridding indoor pollutants found in dangerously high levels inside many offices and houses.

The plant is a small and comes to the indoor garden from Asia. The plant sometimes used as a wall hanging too. Pothos Plant can be found in the jungles of Malaysia. You should keeping in mind the Light, Pot size, Humidity, temperature and soil for proper watering a Pothos plant if you have it at your home. As it comes form Malaysia, mostly require the same temperature as over their at Malaysia (65 degrees to 85 degrees Fahrenheit). You may use fertilizers for this plant too, but keep in mind that over dose can kill the plant too.
